Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of Georgian Fullcontact Karate National Federation I have honor to invite you to the European Karate Championship, which will take place on 26-27 of June, 2021 in Tbilisi, GEORGIA. (It’s also a selection tournament for the WKO 2022-World Karate Championship in weight categories, to be held in Poland).

Hopefully in 2021, the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic will be successfully completed and we can lead normal lives, relationships and trainings. Postponing of the European Championship, which was scheduled in 2020 and holding it in 2021 is a big challenge and responsibility for us. I would like to inform you that the decision to organize the EC-2021 in Tbilisi was made together with the EKO, Ministry of Sport and relevant governmental health agencies. The decision considers the full provision of requirements, based on the existing health recommendations, support and co-financing from the state of Georgia.

I wish you health, spiritual and physical strength and success.

Avtandil Shengelia President of Georgian Fullcontact Karate National Federation-GFKNF, WKO Branch Chief, Shihan 6th Dan.

Tbilisi, Georgia

Georgia  is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, it is bounded to the west by the Black Sea, to the north by Russia, to the south by Turkey and Armenia, and to the southeast by Azerbaijan. The capital and largest city is Tbilisi. Georgia covers a territory of 69,700 square kilometres (26,911 sq mi), and its 2017 population is about 3.718 million. Georgia is a unitary parliamentary republic, with the government elected through a representative democracy.

History of Georgia is the history of struggling for freedom. Nearly all the largest empires in the world attempted to possess this land. But after all, Georgians amazingly managed to survive and preserve independence. There were times when several huge invaders at the same time struggled for having influence over Georgia. The reason of all these wars was strategic location of Georgia between Europe and Asia on the major trade artery – Silk Road.

Tbilisi, in some countries also still known by its pre-1936 international designation Tiflis is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, since then Tbilisi served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics.
